Five Minute Practice
I have the power to sit still for five minutes.
While the world around me continues to move, there are no immediate threats. My basic needs are met and I take my seat back at the center.

. . .
These five minutes of stillness are a source of strength. I let go and give myself to the practice completely. I remain present in the moment by watching a shade tree sway in the breeze. By listening to the muffled sound of construction in the distance. By gently pressing my fingertips to the desktop, aware of its cool resistance.
Nothing else need to be done during my five minutes. I leave the past behind and set the future aside until later. I am wholly present. I am aware of my breath. I am awake to the power of this universal practice.
My heart slows. My body and mind heal. And in the deepest parts of me I find new perspectives and deeper understanding.
